The Cathedral of Nossa Senhora de Lourdes or the Catedral de Pedra; is a Catholic church located in the city of Canela, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil. It is considered a major tourist attraction of the so-called Serra Gaúcha. Its characteristic style is English Gothic. The church has a 65 meter high tower and a 12-bell carillon made of cast bronze, Made by Giacomo Crespi from Italy. Inside, there are three panels made up of canvases painted by the artist Marciano Schmitz, representing "Apparition of the Virgin", "Allegory of Angels" and "The Annunciation". The Via Sacra paintings were made by Pablo Herrera, a Uruguayan sculptor and restorer of Sacred Art. Wood and clay were used, with the bottom full of paintings with images superimposed on the clay.

    The visitation consists of a climb through the interior of the tower of the Cathedral of Pedras de Canela. It has a museum of sacred art, telling the story of the Cathedral and Canon João Marchesi (creator). It presents the history of the Carillon of the 12 bells in bronze, whose set weighs 4 Tons. Upon reaching the top of the visitation, you can enjoy the MAGNIFICENT panoramic view of the city of Canela, contemplating it from the side balconies.

Sem lembrarmos que poderiamos participar desta atração, chegamos à Catedral de Pedra, um pouco antes da última sessão da visitação e toque dos sinos, fomos convidados por um funcionário e subimos. De brinde tivemos um por do sol maravilhoso em uma temporada de dias cinzas. Lindissimo e mágico em todos os sentidos!

Passeio rápido e muito bom, optamos por subir as 17h30 pois o por do sol daquele dia seria as 17h45 e ficamos até as 18h pra escutar as badaladas dos sinos. Recomendamos! Estudante paga meia
